Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Urta (“Urta,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides communication tools designed to help people exchange messages with optional AI-assisted features, including message reformulation, tone adjustment, classification, and related communication tools (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, when it may be disclosed, how long it may be retained, and the choices available to you.
Urta is not an emergency service, therapist, legal service, or substitute for professional advice.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information, such as your name, email address, phone number, username, profile image or avatar, and authentication information.
- Messages and other content you send, receive, upload, or otherwise provide through the Service.
- Conversation invitations, settings, preferences, reports, feedback, and communications with us.
- Information you voluntarily provide when contacting support.
Information collected automatically
We may collect device and browser information, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, log and diagnostic information, security events, feature interactions, and other information reasonably necessary to operate, protect, and improve the Service.
3. AI processing of messages
Some Urta features require message content (including your original draft message and limited conversation context) to be processed by an artificial-intelligence service provider. When you use an AI-assisted feature, relevant message text may be transmitted to that provider so the requested operation can be performed. This means content processed by these features is not visible exclusively to the sender and recipient at every stage of processing.
We aim to send only the information reasonably necessary for the requested AI operation and to avoid sending unnecessary account identifiers with message content. Urta currently uses third-party AI and infrastructure providers, including OpenAI, to provide certain AI-assisted features.
4. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, personalize, and secure the Service.
- Deliver messages and perform AI-assisted transformations requested by users.
- Authenticate accounts and prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Troubleshoot problems and improve reliability and product functionality.
- Respond to support requests and communicate important service or policy changes.
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information for money. We may disclose information to vendors and service providers that process data on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, databases, authentication, email/SMS delivery, security, error monitoring, analytics, and AI providers. These providers receive information only as necessary to perform their services, subject to applicable agreements and law.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Urta, or others; investigate fraud or abuse; or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.
6. Message storage and deletion
When a message is processed through Urta's AI-assisted features, the original draft may be transmitted to the applicable AI provider for processing but is not retained by Urta as a separate conversation message. Urta stores the resulting reformulated or otherwise processed message, along with related information needed to provide the Service.
Urta may offer different deletion options. Deleting a message or conversation only for yourself removes it from your view but may not delete the underlying content from Urta's systems or from the other participant's account. Where a user chooses an available option to delete content for everyone, Urta removes the message content or conversation from its active systems.
Some deleted information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or other systems where immediate deletion is technically impractical or where retention is necessary for security, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes.
7. Security
Urta uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect user information. Message text is encrypted before being stored using AES-256-GCM, and each conversation uses its own encryption key. Conversation keys are themselves encrypted before storage using a separate server-side key.
Passwords are stored as hashes rather than plaintext, and Urta uses account verification and access controls intended to reduce unauthorized access.
Because Urta's mediation features require server-side processing, the Service is not currently end-to-end encrypted. Message drafts and limited recent conversation context may be decrypted and processed when necessary to provide messaging and mediation features.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also be able to change profile and conversation settings directly in the Service. To submit a privacy request, contact smollabs.dev@gmail.com .
9. Cookies and analytics
Urta may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies that are necessary for authentication, security, preferences, and operation of the Service. We currently do not use third-party advertising cookies.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.
11. International users
If you access Urta from outside the country where our systems or providers operate, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries. Where required, we will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will provide notice as required by law, such as through the Service, by email, or by updating the effective date above.
